Shadowy Patterns

I was visiting at my mother's house, and when I am there I usually try to take a few photographs of people or things.  Recently, my Shadow Laughter co-conspirator and I watched Hitchcock's movie, 'Rebecca'.  We were continuously surprised by the use of shadows to break up expanses of wall, or simply to add texture to many of the scenes.  This was fresh in my mind while I was at my mother's, and I photographed some shadowy textures that I noticed around the house during sunny weather.  The shadow of the light-fitting on the ceiling interested me, too.

We don't see Mike too often, unfortunately.  So it's always great when he visits.

Having spent time on the amateur stage, I have a penchant for inventing characters which appear in photographs.  This aspect of my creativity is influenced by the artist Cindy Sherman, whose work I really enjoy and admire.  Here are some of the photos of my characters:

'Homage to Picasso'

'Black and White Man'

'A British Summer'

'An emergence'
